TYPES OF FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
|
There are basically three forms of skating: |
-Bowl: Usually in-ground construction of hills & valleys made of concrete or asphalt.
-Vert: Incorporates a half-pipe where skaters drop vertically from a 10-11' height.
-Street: Basically open space asphalt or concrete with obstacles similar to what could be
found in the street to maneuver across, over, and around (most popular form of
skating).
(The Waterville Skate Park would be designed for Street Skating.)

Types of Equipment: |
-Concrete: durable; not easy to move once set; difficult to repair if damaged.
-Steel: durable; weather resistant; more affordable; noisier; can get hot.
-Wood: most reasonable priced but requires the most maintenance; doesn't hold up.
-Skatelite (resin panel): 3% wood & 97% resin; pretty durable; skaters like the material.
(The committee is considering concrete or skatelite)
