Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Team
The Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Team is working on expanding options for and increasing awareness of waste disposal and recycling options in the area.
WHAT ARE THE 4 Rs?
RETHINK
What’s on your mind?
- Do you really need to buy that item?
- Is there a similar item with less packaging?
- Can you borrow or share this with someone else?
REDUCE
What can you use instead?
- Cloth napkins instead of paper
- Reusable shopping bags
- Tap water instead of bottled water
REUSE
What can you find another use for?
- Old tee-shirts for cleaning cloths instead of paper towels
- Newspapers to clean windows (They work well. Honest!)
- Plastic bags from the store
RECYCLE
What articles can be put back into the materials stream?
- Newspapers, newsprint, phonebooks, etc
- Office paper, letters, envelopes, printouts, etc.
- Mixed paper, paperboard packaging, cereal boxes, etc.
- Cans & bottles that have been rinsed, aluminum, etc.
- Magazines, catalogues, books, etc.
- Plastic containers, both #1 & 2 (Barrels is now taking #5.)
- Corrugated cardboard* flattened (At this time, this is the most valuable recyclable.)
