The Central Maine Public Safety Explorers
The Central Maine Public Safety Explorers consist of Cadets from Fairfield, Oakland, Waterville, and Winslow and are sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville. There are currently 21 members who meet regularly for training in various aspects of Public Safety, usually focusing on Law Enforcement. Recruitment is open - all you need to do to join is fill out an application and be of good moral character.
The goal of the Central Maine Public Safety Explorers is to develop future leaders in the community and teach positive skills to the youth of our community. The Explorers particpate in many fun events such as teambuilding, white water rafting, interactive theater, under-age drinking prevention and a variety of other activities.
There are currently two areas of specialization within the program, which include Explorer Group Color Guard, and The Under-Age Drinking Prevention Units. The Central Maine Public Safety Explorers have something to offer everyone and is open to students who have completed the eigth grade and are 15 years of age or older but under the age of 21.
