Municipal Swimming Pool – New Alfond Municipal Pool includes a lap pool, zero-entry swim area, a kiddy frog slide pool and kiddy pool with little squirt animals, a spray pool, and a slide pool. The pools range in depth from 0′ to 6′. There is an adjacent bath house with facilities for male and female changing rooms, rest rooms, and lockers for clothing storage.
Basketball Court – Full-size asphalt basketball court with steel uprights and backboards. Lighted for evening play until approximately 10:00p.m.
Tennis Courts – The courts are a battery of 4 tennis courts constructed with an asphalt surface and a parking area. There is a 10′ fence around the perimeter. A wooden practice board is at one end of the facility. The courts are not lighted for evening play.
Picnic Area – There are two large picnic shelters located by the playground. The shelters are approximately 25 x 20′ with room for several tables under each. There is also a storage building behind the shelters which has been renovated and used to store equipment and serve as a concession stand for activities at the park. A charcoal grill exists for shelter barbecues.
Horseshoe Pits – There are 6 horseshoe pits located behind the north street tennis courts. Equipment is available for use at the pool bathhouse during operating hours or by contacting the Parks and Recreation office.
North Street Youth Soccer Fields – There are 5 less than full-size soccer fields. Fields are comprised of 2 – 40yd x 60yd fields and 3 – 30yd x 50yd fields. These fields have currently been reconstructed and seeded in the fall of 2002.
Thayer Park Boat Landing – Located on North Street at the base of Colby Hill and across from Maine General Hospital. This landing provides paved parking and carry-in access to Messalonskee Stream.
