The Health and Welfare Department administers the General Assistance Program to assist individuals unable to provide for their basic needs. The Health and Welfare Director is also responsible for the coordination of the City of Waterville Wellness Program.
After Hours General Assistance Notice
In the event of a life-threatening emergency, after normal business hours, individuals may contact the Waterville Police Department at 207-680-4700. The General Assistance Administrator must issue a written decision on all applications within 24 hours. Applicants have the right to contact the Department of Health and Human Services to report any violations in accordance with Title 22 MRS -Section 4321.
