Expanded Archery Lottery Information

Permission to possess a bow and arrow on property owned by the City of Waterville is permitted but is not a right. This permission can be revoked for any reason that, in the opinion of the Public Works Director, would endanger any person or cause a public nuisance.

A public drawing/lottery to grant permission to possess a bow and arrow on City property during the Expanded Archery Season will be held at 2 pm on July 7, 2025, at Waterville Public Works, 6 Wentworth Court, Waterville.

The Application (PDF) form must be received at Public Works no later than 2 pm on July 7, 2025, to be eligible for the drawing.

Permits will be issued for three separate parcels. Maps depicting the locations of these parcels are available for viewing at the Public Works Department, however, there are no markers depicting the exact boundaries of these parcels. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to know the limits that their permit is valid for. Each permit will have a one-week duration. The State of Maine has indicated that the season extends for 13 weeks; September 6, 2025 - December 13, 2025.

The permit recipient may register up to two additional people in their hunting party on their permit. The permit recipient will be held responsible for the actions of all persons listed on the completed permit form. Each person listed on the permit, including the permit recipient, is required to provide a copy of the Expanded Season License and will be required to indicate motor vehicle registration of the vehicle(s) to be used at the property.
